Smogging is a three part test that usually takes around 20 minutes:
Make sure your check-engine light is off. If your vehicle has been serviced or your battery has been disconnected recently, drive long enough (usually around 50 miles) for the onboard computer to confirm no repairs are needed.
Change your oil and air filter regularly. If your exhaust is consistently discolored, or if there are obvious parts damaged/missing from your vehicle, it may not pass visual inspection.
We will chemically test your exhaust to make sure it isn't producing too many hazardous pollutants.
If your vehicle passes, we will submit the report to the DMV so you can register your vehicle. If it doesn't pass, we'll point you in the right direction.
